Freedom of press and freedom of reporting through broadcasting and film are protected as constitutional rights. However, they find their limits in privacy rights of affected individuals. Data protection has been in the public focus since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. However, we have been helping clients for much longer in this field of law. Years ago, we achieved one of the first landmark decisions on the admissibility of video surveillance in commercial buildings. We defend clients’ rights in relation to administrative data protection orders as well as in sanctioning proceedings and criminal law proceedings. We also utilize the protective mechanisms provided by data protection law for their clients, for example, in relation to the assertion of rights against trade secret infringements, and the defence against infringement allegations.
