Press, Media and IT

Press Law

Freedom of press and freedom of reporting through broadcasting and film are protected as constitutional rights. However, they find their limits in privacy rights of affected individuals. We represent private individuals, celebrities, companies and institutions. We assert claims for prohibited word and photo journalism in and out of court. We also develop individual concepts for clients for positive portrayal in public and crisis communication as well as the protection of privacy rights.

Right to Free Speech

The right to free speech and the freedom to privately or publicly express an opinion verbally, in writing or visually was one of the recognized human rights. However, free speech also involves obligations and responsibilities, and it also has limits. We represent private individuals, celebrities, companies and institutions expeditiously and efficiently in the judicial and extrajudicial assertion of claims based on false statements of facts and defamatory criticism. We also represent artists, journalists and other media professionals who are attacked for their public statements.

Social Media

The social media are fast-moving and constantly present users with new legal challenges. When using social media for marketing and corporate communications, companies and institutions must respect the copyrights, privacy rights and trademark rights of third parties. We ensure that our clients operate safely in social media and avoid mistakes. We are your contact for getting illegal content deleted and removed.

Data Protection

Data protection has been in the public focus since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. However, we have been helping clients for much longer in this field of law. Years ago, we achieved one of the first landmark decisions on the admissibility of video surveillance in commercial buildings. We defend clients’ rights in relation to administrative data protection orders as well as in sanctioning proceedings and criminal law proceedings. We also utilize the protective mechanisms provided by data protection law for their clients, for example, in relation to the assertion of rights against trade secret infringements, and the defence against infringement allegations.
